PING AN (02318.HK) voted against keeping Noel Quinn, who is stepping down as CEO of HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK), as a director of the group at a shareholders meeting, Reuters reported, citing sources.

When HSBC announced its quarterly results last week, it also announced that Quinn intended to step down as CEO, and that the board of directors had formally begun the succession process and would consider both internal and external candidates. In the meantime, Quinn will continue to serve as CEO to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
