The EU sees very limited progress in negotiations with China on alternative solutions for electric vehicle (EV) tariffs and slim chances of reaching a swift agreement, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported.

China and the EU continued negotiations this week, aiming to agree on a complex mechanism to control prices and export volumes to avoid additional tariffs.

However, sources indicated that the likelihood of an agreement is bleak, as China has not committed to new arrangements that would match the EU's anti-subsidy tariffs in effect and enforceability.

It is reported that there are also disagreements on the possibility of the EU reaching agreements with individual car manufacturers. The EU believes such agreements comply with WTO rules, while China insists that negotiations should be led by the Chinese trade organization.
