Macau's GGR for the first 17 days of August reached MOP12.1 billion, with an average daily GGR of MOP711 million, consistent with the July level and 11% higher than the same period last year, according to a research report issued by HSBC Global Research. Over the past weekend (16th and 17th), the average daily GGR increased by 4% WoW to MOP728 million, partly driven by improved win rates, despite the fact that adverse weather conditions affected Macau earlier in the week. The broker believed that Macau's intensive non-gaming activities in the coming months will continue to attract visitors. Assuming the average daily GGR for the remainder of the month ranges between MOP680 million and MOP760 million, August GGR is expected to reach MOP21.6-22.7 billion, up 9-15% YoY, compared to a 19% rise in July. Regarding stocks, HSBC Global Research remained optimistic about MGM CHINA (02282.HK) and GALAXY ENT (00027.HK), with ratings kept at Buy and target prices of $18.8 and $45.5 each.
