XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) Chairman Lei Jun took to Weibo with a series of posts, reiterating Xiaomi’s understanding of safety and the SU7’s development standards that were publicly shared as early as late 2023 and early 2024, well before the model’s official launch. Lei referenced an interview dated April 2024 in which he stated that "aesthetics come first in product definition for a car", while questioning whether this conflicted with the principle that "safety is the foundation and prerequisite". In the comments, he pushed back against online critics, accusing some of "taking statements out of context and distorting the truth to smear the company".
