MIDEA GROUP (00300.HK) regional heads in China have individually requested their partnered after-sales service providers not to simultaneously undertake air conditioner installation and repair services for XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) or GREE APPLIANCES (000651.SZ), according to Chinese media outlet Jiemian.com. MIDEA GROUP's public relations department stated that they were unaware of this matter. The report also mentioned that leading service providers in some regions had already terminated cooperation with XIAOMI-W. Some of XIAOMI-W's distributors, as indicated by the report, have confirmed the existence of this policy. They said two service models, namely "delivery and installation in one" and "delivery first, installation later", are currently offered for XIAOMI-W's air conditioners. MIDEA GROUP's "pick one out of two" requirement will reduce XIAOMI-W's reliance on offline service providers, though the impact on service quality is expected to be limited as other third-party service providers remain available.
