<H Shrs>HSI Ebbs 63 Pts at Midday, but Robotics Stocks Gain; Metal Stocks Thrive

Hong Kong stocks softened within a narrow range in the morning session. The HSI ebbed 63 points or 0.2% to 25,872 at midday. The HSCEI slid 12 points or 0.1% to 9,094. The HSTECH lost 11 points or 0.2% to 5,604. Total half-day turnover of the market amounted to $81.659 billion.

Robotics concept stocks UBTECH ROBOTICS (09880.HK) and SANHUA (02050.HK) jumped up 2% and 2.9%, while DOBOT (02432.HK) leaped 4.5%.

For other techs, BABA-W (09988.HK) faded 0.3%, while TENCENT (00700.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) shed 0.8-1%. JD-SW (09618.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) inched up 0.2%, while BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) gained 1.1% and 1.5%. EAST BUY (01797.HK) mounted 3.1%, while chip stock SMIC (00981.HK) lifted 0.5%.

Swiss commodity trader Mercuria reportedly plans to withdraw over 40,000 tons of copper from the LME's warehouses, boosting metal stocks. JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) advanced 5.4%, while CHALCO (02600.HK) and MMG (01208.HK) elevated over 4%. CMOC (03993.HK) and ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) mushroomed 3.4% and 2.3%.
