Novo Nordisk, Eli Lilly Reportedly Cut Prices of Weight Loss Drugs in CN Mkt

Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly and Company (LLY.US) reduced the prices of their weight loss drugs Wegovy and Mounjaro in China respectively, Reuters quoted Chinese drug suppliers as saying.

MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)'s platform shows that the price of the 10mg injection pen for Mounjaro was slashed from RMB2,180 to RMB445.

Both pharmaceutical companies are facing competition from INNOVENT BIO (01801.HK), with CSPC PHARMA (01093.HK) and JIUYUAN GENE (02566.HK) also developing similar drugs. The active ingredient of Novo Nordisk's Wegovy, semaglutide, will have its patent expire next year in China and some key markets.
