The Chinese government clarified the scope and subsidy standards of the 'Two New' policies for 2026, Morgan Stanley released a research report saying.

Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and smart glasses will continue to enjoy a 15% discount on the selling price, with a maximum subsidy of RMB500 per item. Refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, air conditioners, PCs and water heaters will enjoy a maximum subsidy of RMB1,500 per item.

The 2026 'National Subsidy' policy is almost identical to 2025 in terms of technology hardware products, but smart glasses were added to the subsidy list, Morgan Stanley noted.

The broker believed that the newly announced policy is a positive catalyst for the technology hardware industry, as the market expected subsidies to decrease rather than remain unchanged. For consumer electronics, the 15% subsidy will still benefit XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)'s AIoT business next year, in Morgan Stanley's view.
