Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi criticized China's strengthened export control on dual-use items to Japan during an interview with NHK, according to Kyodo News. She added that measures targeting only Japan violate international norms and are unacceptable.

Some Chinese SOEs selling rare earths have informed certain Japanese clients that no new contracts will be signed, the report added. This marks the first confirmation of Japanese companies being refused rare earth purchases since China announced strengthened export controls on dual-use items to Japan.
