After an eight-year hiatus, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will begin a 4-day visit to China tomorrow (28-31 January). A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) responded to questions regarding Sino-British economic and trade cooperation saying that Starmer will lead a delegation of over 50 executives from major British enterprises and institutional representatives. The delegation spans sectors where the UK holds advantages, including finance, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, culture and creative industries, fully reflecting the UK's strong desire to deepen bilateral economic and trade relations. China attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with the UK, and is actively working with the UK to prepare for the economic and trade outcomes of this visit, as well as the 2026 China-UK CEO Council meeting. During the visit, the MOC plans to sign outcome documents with the UK on trade and investment cooperation, striving to create new growth points for China-UK economic and trade cooperation.
