Liu Ying, deputy director of the Social Security Department at the Ministry of Finance (MOF), said at a press conference that, last year, a total of approx. RMB100 billion was allocated by various levels of finance departments across China for the disbursement of childcare subsidies. Of which, the central government allocated RMB90.4 billion. The childcare subsidies focus on basic protection, broad coverage, and fairness, without distinguishing between urban and rural areas, regions, or income levels, Liu added. It also does not differentiate between first, second, or third children, allowing all eligible infants and toddlers to equally enjoy the subsidy benefits.
