The seat belt rules for bus passengers in Hong Kong has sparked social controversy. Mable Chan, the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, responded to the media this afternoon (30th), after consulting with the Department of Justice, by conceding that the relevant legal provisions have technical deficiencies and do not fully reflect the legislative intent. The relevant provisions will be removed and fine tuned before being resubmitted to the Legislative Council for consultation, the Secretary said.
