China Telecom Guangdong announced that, due to changes in project circumstances, the current projects are suspended, and the restart time will be announced separately, according to a report by c114.com.cn.

In January 2026, China Telecom Guangdong had tendered two fiber optic cable procurement projects, namely the 2026 Fiber Optic Cable Emergency Demand Framework Procurement Project and the 2026 Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable Emergency Demand Framework Procurement Project.

Among the two projects, the maximum bid limit for the 2026 Fiber Optic Cable Emergency Demand Framework Procurement Project was approximately RMB8.7082 million. Bids exceeding the maximum limit would be rejected. The maximum bid limit for the 2026 Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable Emergency Demand Framework Procurement Project was approximately RMB48.199 million. Bids exceeding the maximum limit would be rejected.

Recently, both of these bidding projects have been suspended. Industry insiders revealed that this suspension was due to the recent spike in fiber optic prices, which caused the cost of fiber optic cables to exceed the bid limits set by operators, leading manufacturers to be unwilling to bid.
