The US government plans to exempt tech companies such as Amazon (AMZN.US), Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL.US), and Microsoft (MSFT.US) from chip tariffs, as these tech companies are building AI data centers, the Financial Times, citing people with the knowledge of the matter, reported.

The exemptions are reportedly approved by the Department of Commerce and are linked to investment commitments from TSMC (TSM.US), but the plan has yet to be signed by US President Donald Trump.
