The market will focus on five major themes for this year, including solar and hydrogen energy, the 15th Five-Year Plan, power grid and green fuel, HSBC Global Research published a research report saying. Moreover, defensive sectors remain valuable, while nuclear energy is also worth attention. The broker held a more cautious attitude towards Chinese power utilities, as weak power demand and supply are causing power prices to continue falling. With the removal of price floors, thermal and renewable power utilities will face dual challenges of pricing or utilization. HSBC Global Research added its target price for CIMC ENRIC (03899.HK) from $11.6 to $12.5, with rating at Buy, and rated GCL TECH (03800.HK)/ PINGGAO ELEC (600312.SH)/ CKI HOLDINGS (01038.HK)/ others at Buy, with target prices of $1.8/ RMB28.3/ $70, respectively.
