JPMorgan has published a research report anticipating that the escalation of military tensions in the Middle East will trigger a broad market risk aversion correction.

Among the bank stocks covered by JPMorgan, STANCHART (02888.HK) is likely to experience a greater pullback due to its higher exposure to the Middle East region. It is expected that the bank's loans and revenue contributed by the UAE will have accounted for 2.5% and 5.6%, respectively, by 2025.

As of 2Q25, around 73% of STANCHART's loans in the UAE were related to the government, public institutions, or the banking sector, thus keeping the overall credit risk manageable.

According to the report, HSBC Holdings also disclosed that its loan and revenue contributions from the Middle East region were 2.3% and 3.8%, respectively.
