Scott Bessent, US Treasury Secretary, is considering urging China to reduce its oil purchases from Russia and other US adversaries when meeting with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in mid-March in Paris, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources. It is understood that Bessent has recently held closed-door consultations with several former US officials, corporate executives, and policy analysts to discuss plans to shift China's purchases towards US oil and gas products.
