The HSI ended the day down 251 points or 1% at 25,465. The HSCEI fell 28 points or 0.3% to close at 8,671. The HSTECH dropped 49 points or 1%, closing at 4,978. The total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD246.542 billion. Another US financial institution has restricted private credit redemptions. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) and STANCHART (02888.HK) plunged 5% and 5.1%. HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) also slipped 1.2% and 3%. Joining the oil price rally overnight, CNOOC (00883.HK) once reached a new high of HKD29.92 intraday and eventually crossed the finish line up 2.3% at HKD29.76. SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK) slid 2.8%. SINOPEC SEG (02386.HK) plummeted 5.9%. Airlines CHINA SOUTH AIR (01055.HK), CHINA EAST AIR (00670.HK), and AIR CHINA (00753.HK) receded over 4%. Gold prices inched down 1% amid weakening market expectations for interest rate cuts. ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) dived 7.6%. SD GOLD (01787.HK), ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK), ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK), and LINGBAOGOLD-100 (03330.HK) sank 3.7-5.3%. Commodity stock CMOC (03993.HK) shed 4.9%. Swire Group plans to net HKD1.79 billion by placing a 2.52% stake in CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK) at a discount of over 9%. CATHAY PAC AIR faded 5.1%. SWIRE PACIFIC A (00019.HK) advanced 3.1% after it surprised the market with an increased dividend. MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK) collapsed 6.4%. It reported a 7% drop in annual net profit, meeting expectations. The market is eyeing the visibility of capital expenditure for Northern Link Part 2. OOIL (00316.HK) slumped 7.5%. Its annual net profit nosedived 41% to USD1.513 billion. COSCO SHIP HOLD (01919.HK) also ebbed 3.5%. Among tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK), BABA-W (09988.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) edged up 0.1-0.7%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) retreated 1% and 1.7%.
