Iran sent a letter to members of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) announcing that, as long as non-hostile vessels do not support acts of aggression against Iran and comply with Iran's security regulations, they may pass through the Strait of Hormuz after coordination with Iranian authorities. Iran's letter is dated 22 March, the IMO stated. Iran has begun charging tolls to some commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, further demonstrating Iran's control over the strait, Bloomberg quoted sources as saying.
