CN Carmakers Capture 30% Share of Europe PHEV Mkt in Mar

Sales of Chinese PHEVs in Europe proliferated by more than fourfold YoY in March, accounting for nearly 30% of the segment, foreign media reported, citing data from research firm Dataforce.

In addition, registrations of Chinese BEVs and HEVs without plug-in capability also reached a record high last month. Overall, sales of Chinese vehicles in Europe almost doubled YoY to 140,000 units in March, with a market share of 9.4%.

Dataforce analyst Julian Litzinger noted that BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) was the main driver of PHEV sales growth in March, on the back of demand for SUVs such as the Seal U and Atto 2. Jaecoo and Omoda, brands under CHERY AUTO (09973.HK), also logged strong demand.
